Aprons and Cloak

Notice the chicken buttons? I love them.
Front of Aunt's apron.
Apron for our friend.
My mom lent me an apron that was my great Aunt's. Today I sewed a copy of it, but the colors are awful, it was just a mock up. However I was able to shrink (in my head) the pattern to make a 3 year old sized version out of this super cute chicken fabric. I also made an apron for a nearly 8 year old. These two aprons will be sent to my good friend in Texas. Notice the heart pocket? My daughter wrote her friend a note that said "I will hold you in my heart" so we put a heart pocket on the apron and I am going to put that card in the pocket. This is a cloak I made for my niece's third birthday. She loves princesses, and all princesses need a cloak lined in pink satin, right? It is a little heavy (especially for Arizona!), so I might make her a lighter one, too. Since it was so easy and fast (took about an hour total.) It will nearly hang to the floor on her, but will fit her for years. (I was able to put it on. My seven year old is wearing it in the picture.)

Another long hiatus. But if you looked on my personal blog you would know why.

Today I popped into JoAnn's, because I needed some brown velvet-like material and possibly pink satin, for a cloak I plan to make for my niece's birthday. Usually I don't go into the pattern area, but today I decided I wanted to. Plus I needed to see how much fabric would be needed for a simple cloak. Good thing I did because the Simplicity patterns were $1.99 for up to ten. Hurray! I think I only ended up with 9, but I got some basic dress patterns. I also ended up with more fabric and notions.

Hopefully I will be able to get a little bit of sewing done this weekend.

Burda Style Zoe

This dress is supposed to be a mini called Zoe. I made it quite a bit longer (4 inches or so). It would look really cute with a shirt underneath, and some tights for winter. Please excuse the non-matching belt.

I think I will try this one again in a nice red plaid. Little bit school girlish, don't you think?

All in all it took me about 3 hours to complete, not including lunch and nap time.

Projects

This is fabric that I love, but not really sure what I am doing with it. I attempted to make a shirt, with pockets, but the bottom looks funny. I may redo the pockets and see where that takes me.

The brown is a lot darker than it looks in this picture. (Too much flash, I think.) It is made from the following pattern. I took the longer sleeves and put them on the dress without the collar.

I have a few more projects in the works. My brown dress is nearly completed, just a few slip stitches on the belt and a few hook and eyes to keep the dress in place. If I had a dress form It would be so much easier. Sigh. But that is another post, from my other blog.
